Cherrywood’s music features tales of lightning strikes, broken hearts, bar stools and prisons; all brought to life through an array of battered acoustic instruments and a bunch of bar-room vocals. The quartet’s love of Trad. Country and Folk music sits harmoniously with their Punk and Rock n’ Roll lineage to give Cherrywood a sound of their own.

Having toured constantly for two years, the band released Book of Matches in September 2013. Recorded by Matt Duffy (Graveyard Train, The Peep Tempel) during a bitter winter in an old country guesthouse, Book of Matches was laid down in two days, straight to tape with minimal overdubs and a swaggering live feel.

Book of Matches proves an earnest portrayal of the band’s live show – full of raw energy, fast paced and explosive sing-alongs, including those of guests’ Graveyard Train’s Josh Crawley and Harmony’s Erica Dunn, who add further texture to several songs with slide guitar and backing vocals. Catchy and immediate, Book of Matches shouts the listener a drink and dances them around the room.
