Darebin Songwriters’ Guild 10th Anniversary Spectacular
Thursday 3 November @ 8pm
The Purple Emerald – 349 High Street Northcote
FREE
For ten years the Darebin Songwriters’ Guild has been a place for songwriters in the City of Darebin to meet, collaborate and perform. Founded by Wendy Ealey and Moira Tyers and now co-ordinated by Fiona Claire and Dean Lombard, the guild continues to grow, offering writing workshops and more performing opportunities for songwriters to get out and play. This night will showcase some of the collaborations that have grown from the Darebin Songwriter’s Guild sessions and will culminate in a group performance celebrating this community of songwriters. Performing will be: The Dixie Chooks (Wendy Ealey and Moira Tyers – blues-folky instrumentation and a winning sense of humour); The Bad Hobbits ¬(Alistair and Carla have emerged from their burrow with plans for world domination, and the purchasing of new guitar strings); The Netherby Brothers (vocal harmonies and a foundation of fingerpicking-style guitar – it’s original, contemporary, music, with strong acoustic roots); The Falling Sky (Fiona Claire, Dean Lombard and Julian Robinson bring you gritty yet winsome folk-pop ballads); DSG Supergroup (an all-in-together celebration of the songwriters that make the Guild a treasure trove of musical heart).
