Music in the making – an open rehearsal with the Preston Symphony Orchestra
Monday 31 October @ 7.30pm
Preston City Hall – 284 Gower Street Preston
FREE
How does an orchestra of thirty players and fifteen different instruments sound like one voice? And how does the music feel if you hear it from the middle of the orchestra rather than sitting in the hall? The Preston Symphony Orchestra’s Open Rehearsal is an opportunity to lift the lid on preparations for a classical favourite, Tchaikovsky’s ‘Nutcracker Suite’. As conductor Mario Dobernig takes the orchestra through the ‘Waltz of the Flowers’ and the ‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’, audience members are free to sit among the musicians – and to take the baton themselves for a stint at conducting. Whether you’re an enthusiast for live music or learning to play an instrument, this is your chance to be part of a symphony orchestra!
