Mana is a live music event that emphasises queerness and First Nations people. ‘Mana’ means ‘spiritual power, authority, prestige’. By handing the mic to emerging musicians who are queer / femme / non-binary / First Peoples / Pasifika / people of colour, this event empowers these young marginalised people to reclaim their mana. Ultimately, this will be a celebration of resilience, and one hell of a party!
Curated and produced by Daisy Catterall under the mentorship of Bexx Djentuh (LISTEN).
KAIIT + Kandere + P Unique (with DJ Mz Rizk) + PICAA Choir + Neil Morris
This event was produced through AMPLIFY, Darebin Music Feast’s new Event Producer Mentorship. A targeted professional development opportunity, AMPLIFY seeks to address inequality in the music industry by supporting and amplifying lesser heard voices. Each year, AMPLIFY will offer a targeted group of Darebin-based, early-career music event producers access to mentoring and the opportunity to program and produce a feature event as part of Darebin Music Feast. In 2017, AMPLIFY was open to early-career female, trans and/or gender non-conforming music event producers who live, work or study in the City of Darebin.
