Join us as we launch Darebin Music Feast 2017 with this very special event, celebrating Australia’s premier Aboriginal band, Coloured Stone.
Formed in 1977 by lead singer and songwriter, Bunna Lawrie, Coloured Stone combine rock, ska and reggae with a unique Aboriginal sound incorporating traditional instruments such as clap sticks, didgeridoo, bundawuthada (gong stone) and traditional language. Originally from Koonibba, South Australia on the Nullarbor Plains, they are now recognised worldwide, having performed at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Womadelaide, Big Day Out, Woodford Folk Festival, Barunga Festival, Rainbow Serpent Festival and many, many more.
Joined by past and present band members and some very special guests, including Shane Howard, Kutcha Edwards, John John Miller, Yung Warriors and host Jack Charles, the band will take you on a musical journey spanning 40 years. From Black Boy to the Sea Shepherd song, from 1977 until 2017, this is history in the making.
