Born in the plain fields between Venezuela and Colombia, ‘Joropo’ [huh-roh-poh] is a musical form that reflects the lifestyle of the ‘Llanos’. The main sound comes from the influence of the African, European and Indigenous cultures and is one that is easy to remember being so distinct in both harmony and rhythm. Cimarron was created to showcase Llanera [ja-neh-ra] music in Australia as a way of cultural connection showing people the beautiful sounds of the Maracas, Cuatro (Venezuelan four-string Guitar) and Harp combined. Come join us on a journey through Venezuela with the first Llanera band in Melbourne.
