Kevin aka Y2K Nugara: is an Australian/Sri Lankan virtuosic beat box and rapid fire performer. Kevin has worked with Outer Urban Projects team for over 10 years and has toured with Indigenous Hip Hop Projects across Australia. Kevin is a recipient of the 2014 Emerging Artists Hume Arts Awards and performed in the premiere season of Poetic License presented by Outer Urban Projects in the 2014 Melbourne Writers Festival.
Mahmoud Samoun aka Babz: is a Lebanese freestyle rapper and vocalist. Babz has worked with Outer Urban Projects team for over 7 years and has performed in their first major performance ‘Urban Chamber – Beyond’ in the 2013 Melbourne Festival at the Melbourne Recital Centre and the companies most recent work Poetic License in the 2014 Melbourne Writers Festival at Footscray Community Arts Centre.
Wowing audiences at a variety of events such as Woodford Folk Festival, the Australian Dance Awards, Sydney Opera House, and headlining New Year’s Eve at Federation Square, Asanti Dance Theatre are Australia’s leading African dance company. Directed by Appiah Annan (Sidney Myer Creative fellow and internationally recognised dancer, choreographer and musician), the company have been working extensively in Melbourne over the past seven years. Specialising in traditional and contemporary African dance, music and acrobatics the company display an extensive skill set that will leave you speechless.
