Exit through a summery door that will take you into the tropical land of Colombia’s Caribbean and Pacific music. Just follow the sign, leave the real world outside and arrive to this explosive fiesta in the drumming hands of La Descarga band known across town for its bone-shaking sound.

La Descarga explores the roots and sounds of the many rhythms from the coasts including Cumbia, Gaita, Porro, Currulao, Chandé, Mapalé and Tambora. Their repertoire includes traditional songs and original themes paying tribute to Colombia’s unique cultural mix of Spanish, African and Indigenous traditions. Descarga means rhythm explosion for the traditional musicians in Colombia. The band features percussionists performing on traditional drums and instruments including marimba de chonta, gaita flute and bass, trombone, trumpet, clarinet plus singers and dancers.
