Preston Symphony Orchestra invites members of the public to come along and watch a rehearsal as the orchestra prepares for its next concert. The orchestra has been part of music making in Darebin since 1950, performing concerts four times per year, and engaging in other community events. This year, it has commissioned three composers to write a work inspired by Preston – its people, places and sounds.

At the rehearsal you are welcome to sit alongside the players in the orchestra, where you can listen to the sounds of individual instruments and experience the rehearsal from a player’s perspective. Conductor Joseph Lallo will be putting the orchestra through its paces for a programme that includes Sibelius’ ‘Finlandia’ and our new work, ‘The Preston Suite’.
