Slipper is a band that plays the music of Melbourne bassist and composer Alastair Watts. The band brings together their admiration for Brazilian idioms, melancholia, a love of drones and electronica, Spanish language authors, and the very best of West Coast jazz and blues, into its musical musings. Their debut album, Aphelion, is an album of fevered dreams and wonky ideas built upon the insistence that harmony and the distillate of dynamics and love is all one should ever seek.
If sumptuous melody and dreamy harmony in a variety of genre-bending settings rendered sweetly on a variety of brass, wind, strings, pings and things that go ‘WHOOP-WHOOP-SHMEE’ sounds like the slow-mo, epic klangfarben journey you need, come see Slipper.
