Saturday 27 October
5.30pm – 7.30pm
204 High St, Northcote
You may see her on Bourke St busking or as one of the faces of ISHKA clothing brand but as a songwriter, 2018 has seen Tanya headline Memo Hall at St Kilda Festival, fly over to Womadelaide to sing with Mama Kin Spender choir, play two sold out shows at the Gasometer Hotel and perform as one of the emerging artists at St Kilda’s Live and Local Festival.
Tanya’s next EP is due for release in the second half of this year and is purely vocal based: using over 150 vocal layers to create all instrumentation, from drums to bass lines. The harmonies are complex and live performance tricky to master. ‘I didn’t want to use any other instruments, besides my voice!’
Usually backed by a 5-piece band, Tanya will be playing mixed content to feature her skills as a singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. There is a message to be shared in every show; as a proud representative of the LGBTQ community, a vegan and believer in gender equality.
