The Social Club is a bi-monthly gathering of music industry minds. Created as an opportunity for casual and creative idea-sharing, The Social Club is a place for women and GNC people in music to meet new people and forge new partnerships within the industry. At each event guest speakers will drive the discussions based on topical and relevant issues that affect us all, with drinks and networking opportunities to follow.
This month’s rendition of The Social Club, presented by Darebin Music Feast, interrogates the way that the inner north acts as both a home of inclusion and exclusion. We’ll ponder the significance of making music in relation to place… what attracts some artists to urban centres, and what excludes them? How does class, ethnicity and age cluster around particular creative zones? How do both insiders and outsiders define a music community? And where do geographical boundaries start and stop in relation to the development of sound?
Join super special panelists Alice Skye and Jenny McKechnie (Cable Ties) with Janelle Johnstone (Sonic aGender).
